Native American Two Spirits Doc Breaks New GroundGLAAD is proud to continue its endorsement of Out West, a film series that documents unique stories of the LGBT community in the American West from the 1880s to present day. The series will host a screening of the critically-acclaimed documentary Two Spirits, which follows the life of Fred Martinez, a Native American teen who was murdered after living a life free of gender norms. The screening, presented by the City of West Hollywood in association with the Autry National Center, is Monday, June 28th at the Renberg Theatre at the Village in Los Angeles.
Upon his self-identification as a nadleehi, Fred and his family believed he would live a fulfilled, expressive life. He left a legacy built on acceptance by his community and the love of his family and friends. The film screening begins at 7 pm, isFREE to attend. The film will be followed by a panel discussion.
