Know someone Transgender looking for a job?

Equality Can't Wait. Pass ENDA Now!
Here at the Task Force it’s been all ENDA, all the time these last few weeks. We’ve asked you to call and email Congress again and again in order to help us finally get ENDA passed. You’ve helped us do everything possible to make sure our opinion is heard loud and clear. (Thank you, by the way!)

But this week, there is one more thing you can do to convince your members of Congress to pass ENDA — hand them your résumé!

If you or a friend are LGBT and currently under/unemployed, go to your member of Congress and ASK for a job! That’s right
because we are in the final push to get ENDA passed in the House of Representatives, we are calling on LGBT people to go look for work — at your representative’s office. We need you to demonstrate to Congress that we need jobs and we are determined to get them, even without the protections we all deserve. Whether you are a carpenter or a physicist, a politician or a factory worker, ask Congress for a job and ask them to end workplace discrimination.

Not really looking for work right now? That’s okay — you can still make a difference. Forward this message to at least 5 friends and tell them to ask Congress for a job, or pass the word to others. Our combined actions will make a big impact.

We have a sample cover letter you can deliver with your résumé, calling on your member of Congress to support your job search by supporting ENDA. Personalize the cover letter as you see fit, print out a copy of your résumé and go down to your representative’s office closest to your home to hand it in. (If you absolutely can’t travel to your representative’s district office, simply fax or e-mail your cover letter and résumé.)

Please also send us a copy, so we can deliver it to your senators and President Obama to demonstrate our community’s urgent and critical need for employment protections.

For further instructions, your representative’s contact information, and the sample cover letter click here. And please spread the word to your friends, family and neighbors!

Thanks so much for taking action with the Task Force and thanks for keeping up the good work to help us get ENDA passed!

Sincerely,

Rea Carey, Executive Director
National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Action Fund
P.S. The fight to pass ENDA is far from over and the actions you take today are critical to our success. If you can, please consider making a donation to the Task Force. We'll put your money to work right away to help push for LGBT equality in the workplace and beyond. Thanks!
