It's been quite a year.

2009 has been full of ups and downs for the LGBT movement. While we finally passed comprehensive hate crimes legislation and made some significant progress on employment nondiscrimination, we also suffered some heartbreaking defeats when it came to marriage equality.

But we've got a plan to ensure more victories in 2010 — and we want you to be a part of it.

We simply can no longer afford to be outspent and outmaneuvered by hate-filled extremists and we're going to need everyone — lesbian, gay, bi, trans, straight — to help change the tide next year. The rights and liberties of hundreds of thousands of LGBT people and families are at stake.

Make your tax-deductible year-end gift now to the Task Force's 2010 Fight Back Fund.

Here's how we'll put your donation to work in 2010:

  • Train, mobilize, activate. Starting with our annual Creating Change conference, the Task Force does more than any other national organization to train LGBT activists and leaders. With your help, we can continue to build a powerful movement of people who will use their new skills and networks on the ground, state by state, to change hearts and minds.

  • Hold our leaders accountable. A lot has been said about the fact that we have a friendly administration in the White House. And while we're glad we may have an ally, we can't sit back and wait for change — not when so much is at stake. Your donation means that when it's time to act, we can and will use every resource we have to mobilize the grassroots, go door to door in cities and towns across the nation, and knock on doors on Capitol Hill to make sure our elected officials are also working for LGBT equality.

  • Take on legislative battles and win. We know that passing employment nondiscrimination legislation, ending "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," or getting the U.S. Census Bureau to finally count LGBT individuals and families won't solve all our problems. But these critical pieces of legislation that impact the lives and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities will likely be decided in 2010 — and with your help today we can do everything in our power to ensure victory.
We've set a big goal for funding this fight for LGBT equality in 2010: $100,000 before Dec. 31. It's ambitious for such a short time period, but with the stakes as high as they are in the coming year, we must aim high. Click here to make your tax-deductible gift to the Task Force today.

Thank you for helping fund the fight for 2010.

Sincerely,

Rea Carey, Executive Director
National Gay and Lesbian Task Force

P.S. Remember, your donation to the Task Force Foundation is completely tax-deductible and will be used to help advance our movement for LGBT equality. Thank you for your support.
