"I don’t care about the Constitution."
When Bill O’Reilly recently blurted this out on national TV, he showed his true colors. But what is so disturbing about his statement is that it demonstrates the mindset of a growing and motivated extremist movement that is taking hold in our country.

The ACLU is taking on this extremism at every turn. Just yesterday, supporters of the ACLU and dozens of other groups gathered in Washington D.C. for Capitol Hill Lobby Day. These women and men joined together to urge the Senate to reject the anti-choice Stupak-Pitts amendment -- a dangerous addition to the House health care bill that threatens the reproductive rights of women all across the country.
But extremism has spread far beyond Washington D.C. It’s there when public school districts introduce school-sponsored prayer and Bible courses promoting a particular religious viewpoint . . . when gay people are denied the ability to adopt and foster parent the many children in need of homes. . . . the list goes on and on.
Armed with the courage of supporters like you, ACLU lawyers, organizers and advocates will continue standing up against these religiously motivated extremists who would use the power of the government to impose one narrow view of morality on the rest of us.
