Hey Joe Solomnese, did you forget Transgender and Bisexual people again?

(Washington) The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, today praised the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee for marking up S. 1102, the Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligations Act (DPBO). Held by Committee Chairman Joseph Lieberman (ID-CT), the 8-1 vote moves the bill out of committee and readies it for future consideration by the Senate. Similar legislation cleared the U.S. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on November 18.
“Today’s markup in the Senate is an important step toward guaranteeing equal compensation for lesbian and gay workers serving our government at home and abroad,” said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. “DPBO recognizes that equal pay for equal work is a value fundamental to American opportunity. We thank Chairman Lieberman for his leadership in ushering this important legislation through Congress.”
The Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligations Act (DPBO) was introduced in the 111th Congress by Chairman Lieberman and Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) in the Senate and by Congresswomen Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) in the House. DPBO would provide the same family benefits to lesbian and gay federal civilian employees as are already provided to employees with different-sex spouses. To receive benefits, employees would have to submit an affidavit of eligibility for benefits with the Office of Personnel Management, certifying that the employee and domestic partner meet necessary criteria, as provided in the Act....

Why am I not surprised? I guess that it is now time for anyone whom is transgendered to file a class action suit requiring that the HRC not advertise themselves as being in any way anything other than an LB organization. Deny them the right to make any such claims of being T or Q inclusive and refund any donations made by anyone who is trans for a blatant failure to represent, past or present. I would say, despite assurances that this would never happen again, that the HRC has now lost any potential for any form of reputation as being in any way an organization with any integrity. If any organization takes a group's money and claims to represent their interests, then there is absolutely no way that they can use those people as a disposable bargaining chip.

This is another one that they will not "...come back for you..." on. Oh well...I guess that Joe Solomnese is essentially no better than Ron Gold when it comes to transphobia. If anyone from the LBG wants to say that I am wrong on this, then perhaps they should review the history of the LBGtq movement to see why I feel this way.

Want to know why I stopped supporting the HRC? This is exactly why! I call on all people of good conscience within the LBG community to renounce the actions of Joe Solomnase. So much for the "...land of the free and the home of the brave..."

P.S. The 365Newswire should be advised to remove all references to the HRC being in any way a "transgender civil rights organization." In light of this, this is totally inaccurate, unconscionable and fraudulent. When have they (The HRC), and especially Joe Solomqnase, ever done anything affirmative, on any major rights gains bill for the TG?

I am getting really tired of all of these bus tire marks on my back.

I seem to be missing something on this one. This bill provides that a federal employee and his or her domestic partner shall be entitled to benefits available to, and shall be subject to obligations imposed upon, a married federal employee and his or her spouse. And a domestic partner is defined as an adult unmarried person living with another adult unmarried person of the same sex in a committed, intimate relationship.

It seems to me that the ones that should be complaining would be a heterosexual couple living in a committed, intimate relationship without the benefit of marriage. Regardless of HRC's past, present or future actions, in this one case it doesn't seem as though the B & T's are being dumped on. Unless you happen to be part of that hetero couple.
