Winter Pride called off amid cuts

Brighton's Winter Pride week has been called off for

2010 as part of a series of cost-cutting measures designed to balance the Pride charity's books.

The organisation has also said it will be unable to make cash grants to community lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) groups this year.

It is also considering fencing Preston Park during the summer festival and asking for donations at entry points.

Pride has said it faces a deficit of £50,000 unless cuts are made.

It has already made one of its three full-time staff members redundant and put the others on four-day weeks......
