The LGBT Aging Project received the Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services’ "Serving Seniors" award Nov. 10 for the positive and affirming environment the organization creates for local seniors. This is the second annual LGBT award given by Elder Services.
Lisa Krinsky, director of the Aging Project, and Bob Linscott, assistant director, accepted the award for their work in making Massachusetts’ aging services open and accessible to LGBT seniors....
....The award was presented by Somerville resident and SCES client, Dr. Melvin Simms, who was the primary caregiver for his partner of 39 years. "Thanks to Lisa and Bob’s work with the elder services community, my caseworker at Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services knew how to be affirming and supportive of my late partner Walter and myself when we were struggling to find solutions to our homecare needs," Simms said....
