Gay and bisexual youth more depressed than heterosexual

Depression and suicide ideation are rampant across the queer spectrum with numbers as much as ten times greater than the hetero and cisgender populations.

A study by Auckland University has found that gay and bisexual youth are more depressed, more likely to self harm and more suicidal than heterosexual youth.

120 survey tablets were shared between 8002 students aged 12 to 17. They gathered information about their sexual preferences and their mental health.
