Conn. church creates stir with gay exorcism video
Perhaps you have seen the horrific video today that captured the so-called "exorcism" of the "demon of homosexuality" from a 16-year old male in a fundamentalist church in Connecticut.
The video become a viral sensation on YouTube and has been featured today on CNN, MSNBC, network TV news, radio stations, and talk shows. Numerous websites have also posted the video.
A careful reading of the article carries the possibility that the 16-year old might be transgender, rather than gay. (The church's pastor is quoted as saying, "He was dressing like a woman and everything.")
It represents some of the worst in spiritual violence against LGBT people.
NOTE: If you are thinking of watching the actual "exorcism" video on-line, be sure to carefully consider your options. While it can be helpful to see firsthand the spiritual violence still done to our LGBT brothers and sisters, some people found the video deeply disturbing; it is emotionally and spiritually brutal.
